**Job Summary**

We are looking for a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in the Newborn Screening section at LabPlus. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and clinical support to the NBS team, developing new assays and training staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a unique service for the NZ population and contribute to the maintenance and development of the in-house developed middleware.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Develop and implement new screening assays
  • Provide technical and clinical support to the NBS team
  • Train and mentor staff on new assays and protocols
  • Liaise with clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting of results

Qualifications:

  • MSc, PhD or appropriate higher scientific qualification
  • Current annual practicing certificate and registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
  • Recent experience in newborn screening and tandem mass spectrometry
