About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in the Intensive Mental Health Service. This is a full-time, permanent position available in a 23-bed unit catering to those with high and medium intensity mental health needs.
About Us: Our hospital is a large secondary level, 400 bed accredited public hospital providing acute and elective care for a region of over 178,500 people. We offer a wide range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services, making it an ideal place for healthcare professionals to develop their skills.
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and managing patients with complex mental health needs. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and develop individualized treatment plans. The consultant psychiatrist will also have opportunities to teach and train junior registrars.
Requirements: To be considered for this role, applicants must have a medical degree, registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, and extensive experience in psychiatry. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
