The Gastroenterology Department at Palmerston North Hospital provides quality outpatient gastroscopy and colonoscopy, ERCP, liver elastography, outpatient clinical care, inpatient gastroenterology care, and bowel cancer screening services to the community.
We are affiliated with the University of Otago, have a training gastroenterology registrar in our department, and have a research relationship with Massey University.
This environment provides an excellent opportunity for both teaching and research.
The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a larger population.
To be eligible for this position, you must hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for locum tenens or VOC3 registration.
The collegial relationships between departments are strong, and consultation with other consultants is easy.
There is an active postgraduate medical society and excellent clinical library facilities.
