Job Summary

Auckland Council is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Team Leader to oversee the Carnivore section. The successful candidate will have a strong background in animal husbandry, team management, and conservation.

About the Role

The Team Leader will be responsible for managing animal welfare, staff performance, and infrastructure within the Carnivore section. They will work closely with the Animal Care & Conservation department to ensure alignment with Auckland Zoo's strategic commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage animal husbandry and welfare programs
  • Lead a team of keepers and provide guidance on animal care and handling
  • Oversee section operations and ensure compliance with zoo standards
  • Develop and implement field conservation skills and opportunities for the team

Requirements

  • Degree in biological or conservation sciences
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a zoo or relevant field
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Commitment to conservation and community wellbeing
