Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our high-performing Environment team, which has a strong reputation for delivering expert advice on environmental and resource management law. The successful candidate will provide support to our partners and mentor junior solicitors, while working collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.

The role offers a wide range of opportunities to grow your skills and expertise, including:

  • Consenting major projects, such as marine farms, quarries, retail centres, and hospitals;
  • Working collaboratively with property, corporate, and banking and financial services teams to advise on environmental implications;
  • Assisting with planning submissions and regulatory compliance;
  • Undertaking specialist environmental litigation and advising on climate change issues;
  • Providing expert advice on sustainability and ESG policies and initiatives.

The team advises a diverse range of top corporate, central government, and private clients across numerous sectors, including commercial property, energy, infrastructure, industrial, healthcare, forestry, and aged care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will have at least 7 years' legal experience from another leading law firm, a strong background in environmental and resource management law, and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team. You will also hold a New Zealand practising certificate or the right to practice law in New Zealand.
