About the Role

The Canterbury District Health Board seeks a dedicated Physiotherapist to join its Surgical Orthopaedics Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, managing a heavy caseload of primary joint replacements, trauma cases, and various orthopaedic surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out effective patient assessments and formulate goal-based treatment plans to improve function and ensure safe discharges.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop treatment interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Foster effective communication with physiotherapy colleagues and wider MDT teams.

This full-time position involves working 36 hours Tuesday to Saturday, earning pay for 38 hours, and enjoying 2.5 days off. On Saturdays, you will work alongside another Physiotherapist and a Physiotherapy Assistant.

Requirements:
  • New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Minimum 18 months experience in physiotherapy.
  • Ability to develop close working relationships with physiotherapy assistants and other healthcare professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in various rehabilitation areas as needed.
  • Competency in te reo Maori, tikanga, or a commitment to learning and growth.
