Napier City Council is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Community Engagement Advisor. This exciting opportunity will see you take on a key role in building strong relationships with the community and stakeholders, ensuring effective engagement and inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage community engagement projects from planning to execution.
- Organise and participate in consultations, pop-ups, and community events.
- Communicate face-to-face, online, and via other channels to build support for Council initiatives.
- Collect and analyse community feedback to inform decision-making.
- Assist in establishing and implementing the Citizen's Assembly initiative.
- Guide Council staff on best practices for communication and engagement.
- Develop content for consultations and events.
- Build connections with stakeholders, community groups, and internal teams to align efforts.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in community development, social sciences, or communications.
- At least four years' experience in community development, communications, or stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience applying community development and engagement principles to support community wellbeing.
- Customer-focused with a growth mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Skilled in event planning and coordination.
- Excellent project and time management abilities.
- Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi principles and their workplace application.
