As a senior member of our Developer Effectiveness team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the engineering experience of teams building our product through targeted interventions.

You will be part of our Ecosystems Group, responsible for growing the platform capabilities and services provided to Product Engineering teams within Visa Spend Clarity. This will involve collaborating with a combined engineering group of nearly 300 people to drive growth ambitions driven by customer needs and a desire to innovate using modern cloud technologies.

Your key responsibilities will include building or enabling the build of fit-for-purpose platform capabilities and enabling engineering teams to adopt platform capabilities such as feature flag platforms and service generation tooling to improve developer and release experiences.

This role is also accountable for reducing operational toil through automation, allowing the team to focus on delivering platform leverage to customers instead of repetitive manual tasks.

Key Accountabilities

The key accountabilities for this role are:

Software Development
  • Solutions must anticipate scale and maintenance requirements for the scope of work.
  • Active participation in reviews, training, pair programming, and mentoring is essential for delivering value as a team.
  • A focus on fast iterations and delivering working software to customers involves breaking down work into small slices.
  • Proactively reducing technical debt is crucial, signaling the need for reduction during planning.
Platform Products and Services
  • Products and services must be secure and compliant by design, adhering to our standards and policies.
  • Progressing the evolution of the platform to meet customer needs is essential.
  • Evaluating, implementing, and integrating third-party technologies and tools provides maximal platform leverage.
  • A bias towards self-service solutions that are just good enough (Thinnest Viable Platform) is recommended.
Delivering Value to Customers
  • A focus on providing value and impact to customers is paramount for the work done.
  • Maintaining relationships and influencing customers to learn, adopt new practices, concepts, and technologies through ongoing customer feedback is crucial.
  • Providing documentation and training meets customer needs.
Toil Reduction
  • Measuring operational toil assists with prioritization and capacity planning.
  • Leveraging scripting and automation reduces operational toil.

This is a hybrid position, alternating between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week, with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more based on business needs.

Minimum Requirements
  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree, or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
  • 7+ years' experience in a software development role within a SaaS environment.
  • Technical experience in C#, .NET, Typescript.
  • Experience developing REST APIs with .NET and C#.
  • Experience with testing REST APIs.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools and patterns.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Secrets Manager, AppConfig, Lambda.
  • Working with enterprise distributed systems and SaaS applications.
  • Software delivery in regulated compliance-based environments.
