About the Role

The Persistent Pain Service at Dunedin Hospital is an interprofessional outpatient service looking for a Pain Medicine Specialist to join our team.

As part of the role, you will work closely with patients, their family and whanau providing advanced level assessment, intervention, and evaluation of their health-related difficulties in an outpatient setting. You will also work within an interdisciplinary team, other health professionals, organisations, and stakeholders, including primary care practitioners and non-government organisations who have a supportive care function locally and regionally.

Candidates should hold or be working towards a pain specialist qualification or have a special interest in pain such that they are knowledgeable and experienced in working with complex needs clients and able to demonstrate excellent assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and therapy skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced level assessment and intervention for patients with persistent pain
  • Work within an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Develop strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective care coordination
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in pain management and incorporate new knowledge into clinical practice
