About The Role
A rare opportunity has become available for a permanent Midwife Manager to join our Maternity Team at Dunedin Hospital, the tertiary hospital of Health New Zealand Southern.
You will have the opportunity to lead and support the Dunedin Hospital Maternity Unit (named Queen Mary), providing clinical and operational leadership to ensure the service is responsive to the changing needs of our community and health system.
At Dunedin Hospital, we offer primary birthing facilities as well as secondary and tertiary level obstetric services for the Otago/Southland region.
We are committed to a welcoming, inclusive, culturally safe environment for all. Our Breastfeeding Friendly Certified Hospital promotes breastfeeding and provides support for new mothers.
Job Description
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support the Dunedin Hospital Maternity Unit (Queen Mary).
- Provide clinical and operational leadership to ensure the service is responsive to the changing needs of our community and health system.
- Work collaboratively with the supportive leadership team, including Clinical Midwife Managers, Postnatal Midwife coordinators, Midwife Educators, Midwife Clinical Coaches, MQSP coordinators, MCWCP coordinators, Service Managers, and Director of Midwifery.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- NZ Registered Midwife.
- Current annual practicing certificate.
- Ability to think outside the square, communicate effectively, and promote best practice and standards of midwifery care.
- Demonstrate sound professional judgement.
- Relevant knowledge of patient safety and resource management, including budgeting, equipment, and staff management.
- Clinical quality, safety, and best practice.
- Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you.
- Ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Confidence with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
