Hastings, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand Waitemata District Health Board Full time
About the Role

You will be working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in a community old age psychiatry service, providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team. The role involves treating people with dementia and associated psychiatric or behavioural problems, as well as those with late-onset mental illness.

The service operates mostly out of homes, although some patients may require admission to an Adult Mental Health ward or Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation ward. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work closely with geriatricians and other older person's health services to provide comprehensive care.

Key responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring continuous quality improvement. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches is essential.
