Our engineering team members span design, analysis, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, assembly and integration, quality control, engineering documentation, and more.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: Design and develop aerospace systems, including launch vehicles and spacecraftCreate 2D & 3D models using CAD softwareAnalyse systems using hand calculations and numerical methodsGenerate and maintain mechanical system schematicsCollaborate with suppliers and internal teamsSupport system certification and maintenance programsWork with test and ops teams to ensure system operabilitySupport installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshootingDevelop and execute test plans for launch pad systemDesign, develop, and maintain test equipmentAnalyse post-flight and post-test dataYOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or equivalentProfessional Experience: Minimum 2 years in aerospace or industrial engineering roles, focusing on design, testing, and operationsTechnical Proficiency: Advanced skills in 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, particularly SolidWorks and EPDMWork Environment: Ability to thrive in high-pressure, autonomous environmentsSoft Skills: Excellent communication abilities and capacity to build strong professional relationshipsTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Industry-Specific Knowledge: Experience with structural steel, launch pad systems, engine test stands, or similar aerospace infrastructureStructural Expertise: Background in structural design and analysis techniquesIndustrial Machinery Familiarity: Understanding of industrial equipment and machineryAdvanced Software Tools: Proficiency in NX and TeamcenterIndustry Standards: Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, and NASA ground system standardsADDITIONAL ASSETS: Experience in rocket propulsion systemsKnowledge of aerospace-specific regulations and compliance requirementsTrack record of innovative problem-solving in challenging environmentsRocket Lab seeks a highly skilled Aerospace Systems Engineer to join our team of innovators.
