The Purpose of this role is to manage and oversee the capital expenditure processes within the organisation.

The Capex Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the capital expenditure (Capex) processes within the organisation.
This role involves ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of all capital projects, maintaining the fixed asset register, and supporting project managers with financial insights.
The role is split equally, with 50% of the responsibilities focused on Capex and 50% on supporting the business unit.
The Capex Accountant is considered a key business partner who works with key members of the business providing key financial information and insights.
ResponsibilitiesFinancial ControllingCollaborate with the Stage-2 Project Manager, Site Manager, and Financial Controller to analyze and reconcile actual versus approved spend and cash flow projections.Provide detailed financial analysis to support and challenge project managers and engineers on spend phasing, ensuring alignment with project budgets and timelines.Purchase Order and Invoice ManagementManage the creation, monitoring, and tracking of purchase orders with CAPEX suppliers.Ensure timely receipt and processing of CAPEX invoices, working closely with the Project Manager and Accounts Payable team to maintain efficiency.Asset ManagementOversee the monthly settlement of Planview Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to allocate spend to Construction Work in Progress (CWIP).Manage fixed asset settlements, including the creation of asset master's and supporting documentation, ensuring adherence to internal control policies and requirements.Budgeting and ForecastingLead quarterly and annual CAPEX budget forecasting and prepare presentations for the New Zealand leadership team.Maintain and update monthly CAPEX cash flow forecasts to support project delivery and financial planning.Month-End ReportingPrepare and deliver comprehensive monthly CAPEX reports in accordance with Regional and Steering Committee requirements.Develop and distribute a clear and concise monthly overview of CAPEX status to the leadership team.Governance and ComplianceEnsure all CAPEX management processes are thoroughly documented and meet internal governance and compliance standards.Key Skills and ExperiencePrevious 3-5 years' experience in FMCG Finance role with multiple stakeholders.Experience in working effectively with both finance and operational staff.Excellent communication and people skills.Strong Team player.Willingness to accept and deliver on challenging targets.Ability to be hands on.Ability to extract information from ERP systems.Advanced Excel skills.Intermediate PowerPoint skills.Strong systems builder.Capacity to create user-friendly reports.Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Finance / (CA / CPA qualified preferred).
