Day-to-day you can expect to work on: Project and Contract Review: Ensure projects and contracts follow industry best practices, are efficient, safe, provide value for money, and reduce risks to the Council, community, and environment.Process Efficiency: Maintain efficient, up-to-date, well-documented delivery processes, and ensure staff are properly trained and mentored.Contract Roles: Serve as Engineer to Contract, Contract Administrator, or Independent Certifier on complex NZS391(X) construction contracts, and mentor staff in these roles.High-Risk Procurements: Lead high-risk procurements, advise on key attributes, and participate in tender evaluation panels.Team Contribution: Contribute significantly to the Healthy Waters team, supporting the goal of being a Centre of Excellence and Auckland Council's top-performing unit.Constructability Input: Provide input into constructability considerations, leveraging your years of construction experience to enhance project outcomes and minimise risks.As an ideal candidate for this role, you will possess a high proficiency in professional civil and/or environmental engineering, with subject matter expertise in contracts, contract management, and risk management.
Ideally, you will have at least 10-15 years' experience in managing relevant 3-waters construction projects.
You should have strong project and programme management skills, excellent communication abilities including presenting and public speaking, and the capability to train and mentor others.
Additionally, you will have strong interpersonal skills to engage and motivate the team, and a delivery-focused mindset to ensure key outcomes are achieved.
We will also be looking for the following qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a construction-related field.Chartered Engineer or equivalent in Project Management.Auckland Council is one of the largest local authorities in the South Pacific providing essential services and facilities to more than 1.6 million people.
