Resolution Life is a global life insurance group focusing on reinsurance and the acquisition and ongoing management of portfolios of life insurance policies. Resolution Life Australasia manages ~$30 billion in assets, services over 1 million customers with superannuation, investments and life insurance policies, and has over 1000 employees across Australia and New Zealand.
Why us?
We are committed to providing our customers with peace of mind that their life insurance, superannuation, and investment policies are in safe and trusted hands for the long term, through providing quality investment management, competitive premiums, and excellent customer service. We are one of the first life insurers globally to operate in an entirely Enterprise Agile environment and have a contemporary 100% cloud-based technology offering.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to support our business integration and transformation efforts. Key responsibilities include supporting accounting aspects of business acquisitions, managing financial close processes, and ensuring compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, and other regulatory requirements. You will coordinate with various leaders on integration strategies, identify and implement best practices, and optimise finance function efficiency. Additionally, you will manage and develop a team of finance professionals, providing coaching and career development guidance.
This role offers a permanent full-time contract and embraces flexible working arrangements. You'll have the freedom to work remotely, with occasional office attendance required on an ad hoc basis ensuring a harmonious balance between business needs and personal flexibility.
Your Story
RLA has adopted agile ways of working, providing a flexible environment for individuals to make a significant contribution to our success through the application of their skill and experience. To thrive in this environment ideally a candidate has the following attributes:
Support the business integration and process transformation, which may include payroll accounting, investment accounting, financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple reporting bases.
Coordinate and collaborate with the Finance Lead and the business unit leaders on the business integration strategy, objectives, and priorities.
Identify and implement best practices, process improvements, and system enhancements to optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial control function.
Ensure that the design and execution of financial control activities comply with the RLA risk appetite, meeting regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, providing coaching and guidance on their career development.
Monitor and report on the financial performance and key metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Qualification and Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
Progressive experience in finance, accounting, or audit, preferably in a financial service (Life Insurance) and complex organisation.
Expert knowledge of the financial reporting cycle, accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal control best practices for the Australia and New Zealand business.
Sound technical knowledge on IFRS 17 essential.
At least 2 years of work experience in a managerial role.
Experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly in business integration.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and financial modelling tools.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
Critical Skills
Customer Focused: Passionate drive to delight our customers and offer unique solutions that deliver on their expectations.

Learning Agility: Openness to new ways of thinking and acquiring new skills to retain a competitive advantage.
What Will We Do For You:
Our culture underpins our values and guides our decision making. It's also what makes Resolution Life a great place to work. Resolution Life Australasia supports virtual working, and our enduring primary place of work continues to be "virtual" with the physical office and home office used interchangeably. We recognise that our workers can contribute and connect equally regardless of where they are located, and we have seen and experienced the wellbeing and benefits that come from working at home. This means some of us work at home most of the time, in the office most of the time or a balanced mix.
Every day is an opportunity to grow – and we hope to offer our people a career, not just a job. The learning and development opportunities we offer include supporting the completion of executive-level short courses, access to leading online learning tools, on-the-job training, and mentoring by highly experienced business leaders.
Join us
Before commencing employment in this role you will need to provide two references, full working rights, and complete police and credit checks through an online provider. As an equal opportunity employer strongly committed to working in a diverse and inclusive workforce, you will be provided with any support or accessibility requirements throughout your interview process.
