Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.We are seeking two general ophthalmologists - ideally with an interest in Medical Retina/Uveitis for a full-time, permanent position at Dunedin Public Hospital Eye Department.
We would also welcome enquiries from ophthalmologists with other subspecialty interests.About the roleThe Dunedin Public Hospital Eye Department provides ophthalmology services to all of Otago and Southland.
We require a dynamic, hardworking individual with excellent time management skills to become an integral part of our close-knit team.
Our links with the University of Otago and affiliation with the Otago Medical School means that you are an honorary lecturer to Medical Students and there is a chance to be involved in research.
We also provide training to registrars from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and enjoy helping them on their journey towards becoming a future ophthalmologist.We are seeking an Ophthalmologist that knows the New Zealand health system intricately and the constraints we face within ophthalmology.
We welcome applications from a forward-thinking, innovative ophthalmologist that loves challenges and working in a busy department.
This role is primarily based in Dunedin but some travel across the Southern District is expected.
You will be expected to participate in the 1:4 on-call roster, routine ophthalmology clinics, theatre, and some outreach clinics.
You will also need to be flexible with your scheduling.
You must have completed your specialist training and be eligible or already hold vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.About youEligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New ZealandFRANZCO or equivalent board certification (American board of Ophthalmology, FRCSC, FRCOphth)Enthusiastic about teaching and passing your knowledge to junior members of staffExcellent communication and time management skillsWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
