About Us Lake Tekapo is one of NZ's best kept secrets. The Tekapo Power Scheme is an important asset to Genesis, generating electricity through two power stations: Tekapo A (30MW) and Tekapo B (160MW), with Tekapo B being the only power station in NZ that is completely surrounded by water, boasting views out to Aoraki Mount Cook.
About The Role The Tekapo Power Station is made up of a small number of permanent staff that specialize in operations, maintenance, electrical, and grounds work, drawing on a range of expertise from each other and contractors on site. They work as a collective team, with reliability, integrity, and honesty, with Safety and Wellness at the forefront both for themselves and each other. We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the team as a Maintenance Assistant/Trainee Operator. We are open to all applicants - whether you have experience or are fresh out of school, if you have the right attitude this could be the role for you.
Responsibilities: Undertake facilities maintenance tasks, including general building services, ground maintenance, fleet vehicle support, and checks.Support the team with planned maintenance and defect tasks.Monitor, observe, and report plant condition for routine Dam Surveillance as per the monitoring schedule and report results to specialist engineers.Provide site-based support for contractors as required.Complete compliance inspections, site inductions, and onboarding.About You We are looking for someone who is keen to grow and develop their skills or build on what they already have. We are open to where your experience comes from, whether you already have a trade or are looking to complete an apprenticeship.
