About the role ICAFS is seeking a registered mental health professional (Registered nurse, Social worker, Occupational therapist) to join our Infant, child, adolescent and family specialty Team.
This position is for the intake clinician role managing and triaging incoming referrals to ICAFS.
The role involves assessing and processing referrals, triaging directly, referring to outside agencies and maintaining workflow amongst the team.
About the Team/Service/ Location ICAFS is a community-based team that provide specialist assessment and treatment for 0 - 18 year olds and their families/ whanau.
We offer a range of therapeutic approaches as well as having two specialist treatment teams, family therapy (with a screening team) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
We have a large team of passionate clinicians, including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and psychotherapists that you would be working closely alongside.
We have clinicians with a range of experience and are known to provide excellent support to trainees, interns and new graduates who are frequently working within our service.
About you The successful applicant will be able to work independently, they will be confident in reviewing referral content, completing triage assessments and providing tangible outcomes.
You will enjoy independent clinical work, while being adept at collaborating with the wider team/services.
The person best suited for this role will also have excellent clinical knowledge in working with children, families and understanding how to assess and treat complex needs.
They will be confident and effective communicators and have strong organisational skills.
Skills * Ability to provide high quality triaging in a fast paced environment.
* Experience in completing mental health assessments and providing therapeutic interventions.
* Experience in risk identification and management.
* Strong ability to make independent safe clinical decisions.
* Developmental knowledge and screening/assessment experience.
* Understanding of working with trauma, neurodiversity, challenging family systems.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external providers.
* Previous experience in child and adolescent mental health.
* Understanding of co-existing diagnosis relevant to children.
* Hold New Zealand registration and/or current practicing certificate.
* Have the ability to work autonomously and also as an integral part of a dedicated, innovative and friendly multi-disciplinary team.
* The ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships within the team, service, the DHB, the wider mental health services, and community agencies is integral to this role.
* Previous experience using DHB clinical systems.
* Knowledge of the CAPA system would be an advantage.
