You'll collaborate across teams to ensure compliance with legislation, deliver exceptional customer service, and contribute to monitoring and compliance efforts.If you're a team player with planning experience and a passion for the environment, apply now and make a meaningful impactYour commitment to Treaty partnership will anchor your work, reflecting the values at the heart of Gisborne District Council's mission and shaping a more resilient, prosperous region.Key Responsibilities:Assess and process applications under applicable Plans and National Environmental Standards (NES) within legislative timeframes.Provide accurate information and guidance regarding resource consent applications.Support the development of Council's planning policies, strategies, and monitoring and compliance efforts.Deliver expert, professional advice on resource management matters, including land development and resource use.Assist staff and the public with sound guidance on planning and compliance issues.Assist the Team Leader and Consents Manager with consent administration and compliance tasks.Contribute to the development and implementation of the Resource Consent work programme.Prepare and present reports to Council, Committees, Hearings Commissioners, or the Environment Court, ensuring alignment with budget constraints.Minimum Requirements:Tertiary qualification in planning, resource management, or equivalent.Prior experience in Planning role; hearings experience would be beneficial.Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly report writing.Sound knowledge of resource management legislation.Sound knowledge of resource management theory and best practice principles.Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise workflow.Proficient in Microsoft Windows: Word, Excel, Outlook.Full NZ Drivers Licence.Flexible on start and finish times.Benefits:Hybrid working (home and work)Relocation assistancePiritahi Day – an additional leave day to spend with whanau & friendsStaff Discounts at local retailers and big brandsAllocated training budget for career development and to support professional affiliation membership (where relevant to the role)Access to reduced health insurance premiums for you and your family through Southern CrossFree eye examsAccess to free independent counselling and support services for you and your familyAnnual flu vaccinations and health checksHere at Gisborne District Council, we pull our values from the community we serve.
