Vanner Logging Ltd services, maintains and develops forestry plant, vehicles and equipment.
We require an additional mechanic to join our talented team at our workshop in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.Job DescriptionDetecting and diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults in heavy plant and vehicles.Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components in heavy machinery and vehicles.Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components, referring to service manuals as needed.Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, engine and hydraulic servicing to achieve smoother running of heavy machinery and vehicles.Reassembling engines and hydraulics after being repaired.Testing and adjusting mechanical and hydraulic systems after being repaired for proper performance.Diagnosing and testing systems with the assistance of computers.The workshop is situated in Ngakuru, a picturesque rural area surrounded predominantly by dairy farms and lifestyle blocks.
There are two excellent primary schools and one day-care centre 15 minutes drive away.
High schools are situated in Rotorua (30 minutes drive) or Taupo (45 minutes drive).
Rotorua and Taupo are the adventure capitals of the North Island, NZ.If being outdoors is your thing, this may be the place for youThe successful applicant will be an experienced and qualified heavy diesel mechanic who has the ability to repair and maintain all heavy diesel plant and equipment.Hours of work: 7.30am-5pm Monday-Friday only (guaranteed 45 hours per week).
Minimal after hours/weekend work - you can do other thingsPay range: $40-$50 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Minimum of 3 years experience required.Although initially the work will be workshop based, over time some fieldwork in the forest will be required.RequirementsHave enthusiasm and genuine interest in the job as a whole and have an excellent work ethic.Enjoy a supportive work environment.Be reliable and drug-free.Be keen to learn new skills.Have a full driver's licence.Have a minimum of 3 years work experience following qualification.Be trade qualified: the successful applicant should have a relevant level 4 qualification or higher on the NZQA Framework.Regular drug testing is required for this position.
