Horizons Regional Council is looking for a creative and experienced communicator to add value to our small but mighty media and communications team. This is a permanent full time position based in either our Palmerston North or Whanganui office.
Working across the organisation you will help raise awareness and understanding of Horizons' role in managing natural resources within our region, while increasing engagement with our communities through communications planning, advice, and management.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years' experience and have the ability to work across the organisation, from staff and senior managers to group managers and governance, to help raise awareness of Horizons' role. However, we will consider less experienced candidates to be employed as a Communications Officer if they have the right skillset.
We can offer you a varied, busy and interesting position that covers social, economic, cultural and environmental issues for a vast region full of diverse communities. Our stakeholders include residents, ratepayers, community groups, iwi and hapu, landowners, local and central government, and other agencies and project partners.
About youWe're after someone with a critical eye for detail, creative nous for design and delivery, and an ability to meet challenging deadlines and tight budgets. You must be comfortable using a wide range of traditional and digital platforms to engage and inspire an audience.
The successful candidate would ideally hold a graduate qualification in marketing or communication management and have experience in creating media releases, content for web and social, video production and editing, implementing communications campaigns, compiling advertisements and publications, and copywriting for a number of channels.
