The communities we serve, including councils, central government, iwi, and infrastructure managers, are all tasked with making critical decisions related to the risks associated with climate change.
To make these decisions, the information on risks needs to be accessible and up to date.
The Resilience Explorer (REx), an interactive, user-tailored platform for scenario testing and risk-informed decision-making, was developed to support those decision makers.
It helps our communities tackle climate challenges and build resilience, not just here in Aotearoa New Zealand, but worldwide.

You have strong leadership skills that inspire others to perform to high standards.About the RoleAs a Senior Engineering Manager at UI, you will lead the engineering team while also actively participating in hands-on development.
This role has senior and junior developers reporting to it, so experience managing employees is essential.Your work will directly support our mission by ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative software solutions for risk, resilience, and climate adaptation.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical leadership and team managementLarge scale software development and architecture, including being responsible for driving the implementation of our tech roadmap.Quality assurance and performance optimisationCross-functional collaboration and innovationSkills & ExperienceOur ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:10+ years of software engineering experience.Minimum of 4 years in a technical leadership role and managing technical projects.Proven track record of successful beginning to end project deliveries.Be a 'blue-sky' thinker so you are at the forefront of product enhancements.Experience managing teams of engineers/developers.History of process improvements and team efficiency gains.Experience with a variety of technology stacks.Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), CI/CD, and DevOps practices and containerisation (Docker).Experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL and PostGIS.Knowledge in geospatial data processing, analysis, and visualisation (QGIS/ArcGIS, GDAL, GeoPandas).What We Can OfferWe are a team of 16 people, and while not large, we enjoy the benefits of the fantastic culture that a team this size brings.
