Enabling Smart Council to provide these important services is our development team who are responsible for focusing on how we better "digitally integrate" with our customers and external partners across multiple channels, particularly the internet, to drive a comprehensive and cohesive customer service experience.
We are seeking a Tech Lead who will be responsible for designing and building the foundational platform for key technology solutions that deliver cohesive software systems across the Council.
You will collaborate closely with architects and fellow tech leads to ensure that the technology environment is secure, efficient, and up-to-date, supporting externally and internally facing systems, integration, and ERP systems.
As a senior software delivery expert, you will lead the technical aspects of projects, ensuring that technology is implemented correctly, best practices are followed, and outcomes meet Council's objectives.
You will deliver high-quality, flexible, well-tested, and resilient software solutions that meet current and future organisational needs.
Your expertise will guide development teams, ensuring adherence to Smart Council's standards and best practices, and you will work with business analysts, architects, and business owners to foster continuous improvement in both software solutions and development processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Technology Solution Ownership: Own and manage critical technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and organisational goals.Expert Software Development: Lead the design and development of scalable and reliable software solutions, ensuring they are flexible, well-tested, secure, and resilient.Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with business analysts, architects, and business owners to understand broader business needs and ensure the delivery of solutions that address those needs.Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor developers, testers, and other team members, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.Project Delivery: Lead the technical delivery and support projects, ensuring high-quality delivery.Security and Efficiency: Maximize the security, efficiency, and longevity of the technology environment, ensuring a cohesive and integrated approach to internal and external software development.Standards and Process Improvement: Contribute to developing and refining Smart Council standards and practices to drive continuous improvement in the software development lifecycle.Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and address any blockers or challenges, ensuring smooth and effective project execution.Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing innovative ideas and practices to enhance software delivery and development processes.You should be proficient in designing secure, scalable software solutions and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
Additionally, you will have demonstrated success in influencing technical decision-making, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
The ability to manage multiple projects, communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, and maintain a customer-focused mindset is key.
Experience with DevOps, UI/UX principles, and continuous learning to stay up to date with emerging technologies will also be valuable.
