While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not-for-profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements provide a highly rewarding work experience.At New Zealand Red Cross, we are at an exciting time of change to ensure we are sustainable for the future and can continue to improve the lives of vulnerable people.The Finance Team is a key enabler for this work by ensuring our decision makers are provided robust and insightful information and advice as they form and deliver their business changes.You will report to the Strategic Finance Manager and be a key partner to the business by providing a high level of financial and commercial support.
On any day you may be providing strategic analysis and advice, ensuring our management accounting is correct and supports effective decision making, or assessing and measuring our carbon emissions.
In all of these, your role will be focused around influencing change to grow our sustainability.Being part of the Financial Performance Team, you will liaise closely with the business to add value and contribute during an exciting time as we move towards our strategic goals for 2030.
You will be expected to provide insightful and both technical and non-technical financial information to respective portfolio leadership teams.In this role, you will:Actively influence day-to-day decisions, providing up-to-date analysis and advice, and have an understanding of operational impacts.Be responsible for the financial support, monitoring, reporting, and reviewing management accounts for reasonableness.Assist in collating Portfolio and Organisational reports for monthly presentations to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and National Board.Conduct proactive financial analysis to support diverse user needs, including portfolio managers and cross-departmental projects.Quantify project benefits, providing financial modelling for business cases, including capital expenditure.Conduct post-audits on projects to assess achieved benefits and identify lessons learned.Collaborate with the Systems Accountant to design reports to meet business needs.Partner with portfolios to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the budgeting and forecasting process, adopting a challenger posture where required.To be successful, you will have:Strong communication skills to collaborate with managers in providing financial support and advice.The ability to earn trust through behaving in a professional manner and using discretion.An ability to analyse information and use logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.Interest in continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.A good understanding of accounting fundamentals and standards.At least 3 years' experience post-qualifying.Good level of computer skills e.g., Excel.Attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills.About New Zealand Red CrossNew Zealand Red Cross is part of the world's largest humanitarian network, with over 10,000 members and employees dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable people by mobilising the power of humanity and increasing community resilience.Guided by our Fundamental Principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality, we support people in times of need and help strengthen their resilience.We are committed to having an accessible, diverse, inclusive, and barrier-free work environment where everyone can reach their full potential.
