Policy and infrastructure tools are being developed to support the implementation of these directives.RESEARCH AND ENTERPRISE OFFICEThe Research and Enterprise Office (R&E) plays a vital role in this vision by supporting researchers in securing funding, forming business partnerships, applying for grants, and establishing research contracts.
We work closely with academic kaimahi, tauira, the wider community, and Otago Innovation Ltd—the University's commercialisation arm—to cultivate a culture of enterprise and innovation.Te mahi/The roleThis role is designed to facilitate and support the efficient and timely development of academic research proposals within the University's research policy frameworks.
Relational communications and multi-disciplinary approaches to research are important aspects for the role.A key focus is fostering culturally appropriate research approaches by embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, Te Ao Maori perspectives, through communicating across disciplines and supporting early career researchers.
Maintaining established internal relationships and developing new points of relational understanding are important.
Additionally, the role promotes the growth and enhancement of Maori-focused research where appropriate.As Kaiarataki Rangahau, Maori, you will provide strategic guidance and support to academic kaimahi in securing research funding and planning impactful research projects.
You will also play a vital role in shaping research planning Maori Research Plans, ensuring they create opportunities for high-quality research partnerships with Maori communities and strengthen institutional relationships.Ka Pukeka Me Ka Wheako/Your skills and experienceWe invite applications from candidates with a genuine passion for research, people, and building meaningful connections while engaging with the exciting mahi of others.Ideally, you will hold a PhD and have a strong working knowledge of Te Ao Maori, matauranga Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Maori community contexts.
Additionally, you will understand how these knowledge systems intersect with the academic and research landscape in Aotearoa.You will also be able to demonstrate:Non-linear, out of the box thinking in pioneering roles.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.Proven ability to plan and manage multiple research projects simultaneously.Excellent networking, relationship building and facilitation skills.Good emotional intelligence in dealing with nuanced situations and confidentiality.A level of cultural confidence and receptivity in providing advice to non-expert and expert specialists regarding Te Ao Maori.Cross-disciplinary / multi-disciplinary systems thinking experience would be advantageous.Puroko/Further detailsThis is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed term position (for 3.5 years) based in Otepoti, Dunedin.
