Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleThe department consists of 14 spaces (beds and fast-tracked spaces), with 22,000 presentations covering a wide range of emergencies, including trauma, with backup from inpatient teams including anaesthesia, paediatrics, mental health, O&G, surgical, and internal medicine specialists.
The role is varied with staff enabled to triage and diagnose a variety of conditions.
The ED team is a tight-knit group, consisting of Medical Officers and a core of experienced and multi-skilled ED nurses.The roster consists of 3 overlapping 9-hour shifts, (plus House Officer and Registrar assistance).
Considerable efforts are made to accommodate individual preferences while rostering.A major advantage here is the roster has no night shift and no after-hours 'on-call' requirement and typically operates on a 6-week cycle, thereby allowing some degree of predictability for planning one's personal commitments & interests.About youThis role will suit someone who has NZ Vocational Registration in a generalist scope of practice such as Emergency, Rural Medicine, Urgent Care, or General Practice with a current practising certificate.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
