Reporting to the Manager Regional Intelligence; Waikato, the Intelligence Supervisor is responsible for managing the allocation of workloads and staffing to ensure the Intel team provides reliable, accurate and timely intelligence products to decision makers.
The role also supports the Manager Regional Intelligence to deliver an exemplary intelligence service and the development and continuous improvement of the Department's intelligence capability.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced people leader with a strong understanding of intelligence or an intelligence practitioner who wants to stretch their wings and help shape the intelligence architecture within Ara Poutama Aotearoa, Department of Corrections.
This position will provide you with the opportunity to lead, develop & motivate intelligence practitioners and work with a professional and dynamic team.
Our teams work in a busy, very intricate part of the business and it will be expected that you will have a great sense of urgency with an appreciation of the organisational need at times to deliver quick results.
He korero mou | About you This is a key role leading a team of Intelligence staff so your strength in developing and mentoring people will need to be showcased.
Promoting staff development and enhancing capability will contribute to the overall success of the Waikato Region Intelligence team.
To be successful in this role, you must have: Demonstrated experience in Intelligence, preferably with a focus on criminal and/or unlawful activities.
Demonstrated ability to direct and manage a team to accomplish tasks and meet client expectations.
Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to create and maintain a healthy team, build trust and confidence with clients, and influence decision-makers effectively.
Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver on individual/team projects and tasks (including resource allocation, time management, prioritisation etc) A philosophy and work ethic which includes a sense of urgency, an attitude of preparedness and vigilance, and a drive to make an appreciable difference.
Advanced relationship management skills, focusing on encouraging and leading cooperative efforts to identify and manage potential areas of concern or conflict.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills across a wide spectrum, including a demonstrated ability in advocacy, negotiation, consultation Ability to recognise key political and other factors which may impact on working relationships and deal with these sensitively and strategically.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop staff Ability to work in a sometimes-high pressured environment and lead staff through those periods The successful applicant must obtain, and maintain, a Top-Secret clearance.
A full driving licence is required as travel will be a requirement of this role.
Utu a-tau | Salary The salary range is $101,162 – $142,816.
The mid-point which indicates full competence in the role is $119,013.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
