About the RoleThis continence District Nurse 0.9 FTE permanent position would suit an experienced Registered Nurse, with community nursing experience or a background in continence/urology nursing being desirable.
The continence district nurse works with complex incontinence clients, working clinically and in a consultative role for continence or urological conditions.
Teaching of the nursing staff in the community setting, running study sessions and maintaining competencies in continence urology nursing would be required.

District nursing (DN's) is a multi-faceted role which is evolving quickly and we need compassionate, dynamic Registered Nurses to join our supportive Wellington district nurse team.
District Nurses have access to regular in-service training, study days and associated post-registration academic study through local institutions.
The District Nurses directly contribute to service development through regular team and Service Improvement Group (SIG) meetings.
If you have previous community nursing experience or have an interest/knowledge in continence/urology nursing, we would like to hear from you.
We would also be delighted to hear from nurses from other backgrounds, as we provide a solid orientation period.
Police vetting is required if not currently employed by Capital and Coast and Lower Hutt Hospital.
The hours of work are morning shifts, 08.00am to 16.30pm.
Working nine days in a two-week period.
About the Team / Service / LocationThe district nurse team supports the discharge of patients from hospital health service (HHS) into the Wellington community setting and supports GP practice community patients.
District Nurses work in the community setting with patients receiving home intervention such as intravenous therapy, palliative care, wound care, compression bandaging, Doppler assessment, medication management, stoma care, incontinence care, and respiratory care, home oxygen therapy.
The district nurses work with Community Health, Health Care Assistants (HCA's) team, assessing patients who require home personal cares and then handing over the patient care to the HCA's.
About YouThis position would suit an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in community, primary health or medical nursing, who would like to work in an autonomous, specialist role that is based in the secondary health sector.
To be successful in this role:
Current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council.Previous experience or have an interest in continence/urology nursing and in working in the community setting.On the PDRP.Broad range of clinical nursing experience of at least five years.Able to develop and maintain relationships with other community healthcare providers.Ability to work collaboratively.Team player with excellent decision-making skills.A valid driver licence.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is - the weaving of wellness.
