We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that enhance the student experience at Te Kunenga ki Purehuroa Massey University.
This role works across a wide range of student communities, with a particular focus on rainbow, takatapui, and disabled akonga.
The coordinator will apply a DEI lens to the student journey and collaborate with key stakeholders to develop initiatives that foster belonging and success.
A Te Tiriti-centred approach is essential, recognising the importance of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga in advancing student inclusion.We are offering a permanent part-time 0.8FTE (30 hours) position based at any of Massey's three campuses—Auckland, Manawatu, or Wellington.The salary band for this position is $56,622 - $80,006 (2024), based on skills and experience.The Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator will:Develop and support DEI-focused initiatives that enhance student inclusion and belonging.Work collaboratively with rainbow, takatapui, and disabled communities to co-design engagement opportunities.Provide advice and administrative support for DEI advisory groups and student representation networks.Assist in the planning and delivery of inclusive orientation experiences.Support awareness, training, and communication efforts that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across student communities.Build relationships with diverse communities and services to ensure intersectional approaches to inclusion.We are looking for someone who has:Experience working with diverse student communities, particularly rainbow, takatapui, and disabled groups.A strong understanding of DEI principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with the ability to apply them in student inclusion.Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.Experience in coordinating projects and student-led initiatives.An undergraduate qualification (preferred in a relevant field such as social sciences, community development, or education).Experience in event coordination, communications, and/or graphic design (desirable).Experience working within a tertiary education setting (desirable).Proficiency in te reo Maori and knowledge of tikanga Maori (desirable).Additional Information:For enquiries, please contact Paul Fenton, Associate Director, Student Achievement at:
