Inspired by Dr Rudolf Steiner's principles of anthroposophy, we seek to understand each person and situation as unique, not a one-size-fits-all philosophy.Mo te turanga | About the RoleAs a member of our Personalised Support team at Melrose Farm located in Kennedys Bush, you will play a vital role in fostering personal growth for individuals in our day service.Join a collaborative, innovative, and highly motivated team where your own development is just as important as that of the people you support At Melrose, we encourage self-determination and personal growth, and we welcome your creative strengths to enhance our programs.On Tuesdays, you'll work with all our Melrose attendees in a flexible 1:2 support ratio. This may involve helping individuals explore Christchurch through activities like karaoke, walks, picnics in the park, bowling, or attending community groups. You might also assist with kitchen skills, play table tennis, spend time in the garden, or engage in DIY and craft projects.Wednesdays will primarily focus on one-on-one support for individuals with more complex needs. This could include outings to the gym, walks around the Port Hills, swimming, or even a ferry ride to Diamond Harbour. You'll also help individuals develop social skills during outings and while interacting with the rest of the Melrose crew.We seek staff who are confident, calm, and understand the importance of rhythm and predictability in supporting individuals to lead fulfilling lives. Flexibility to collaborate with everyone at Melrose Farm and within the wider Personalised Support team is essential for this role.You will be energetic, empathetic, and able to work alongside individuals, focusing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem-solve, and apply boundaries or offer space. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people's ability to access and be part of their wider community.
