He angitutanga | About the role We have an amazing field-based opportunity in our Operations team based in Twizel/Te Manahuna.
We're looking for someone who enjoys the outdoors, has lots of practical skills and wants to work as part of a motivated team of people charged with protecting and enhancing our natural environment.
Based in Twizel, you will work as part of a driven team that are passionate about multi-species weed control.
A variety of methods for control are used, such as ground control with truck mounted gun & hose systems, knapsacks, and cut paste.Other tasks may include assisting with the wider Biodiversity Threats programme that includes animal pest trapping and rabbit fence maintenance.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience The people we are seeking should have experience with identification and control of pest plants, possess a strong, broad base of practical skills, be physically fit, have good communication skills, be self-reliant, and enjoy working in a small team.
A full driver's licence and first aid certificate is essential.
Experience with handling and applying herbicide and a Growsafe certificate are preferable but not essential.
Qualifications or experience in the following would be advantageous (but not required): * Controlled substance licence/Approved handler certificate * Use of scrub bars * Four-wheel driving qualifications and off-road experience * Ability to use a GPS The successful applicant must be willing to work outside of typical work hours when the weather allows, particularly during the busy season.
The role is physically demanding so a high level of fitness is required.

The salary range for this position is $58,816 to $66,578 pro-rata with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that overs the whole period of employment.
