With your creativity, proactive approach, and natural ability to connect with a diverse range of groups and individuals, you'll ensure our engagement efforts are effective, inclusive, and impactful.This is more than just a 9-to-5 role—it's about being there when it matters most, including attending meetings and events outside regular office hours.ResponsibilitiesPlan & Deliver Engagement – Manage community engagement projects from planning to execution.Lead Events & Meetings – Organise and participate in consultations, pop-ups, and community events.Connect with the Community – Communicate face-to-face, online, and via other channels to build support for Council initiatives.Gather Insights – Collect and analyse community feedback to inform decision-making.Support Citizen's Assembly establishment – Assist in establishing and implementing this initiative.Advise on Strategies – Guide Council staff on best practices for communication and engagement.Develop Engagement Plans – Create and manage timelines in collaboration with experts.Create Engagement Materials – Develop content for consultations and events.Strengthen Relationships – Build connections with stakeholders, community groups, and internal teams to align efforts.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in community development, social sciences, or communications.At least four years' experience in community development, communications, or stakeholder engagement.Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.Experience applying community development and engagement principles to support community wellbeing.Customer-focused with a growth mindset.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).Skilled in event planning and coordination.Excellent project and time management abilities.Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi principles and their workplace application.This is a 6 month fixed term opportunity, working Monday to Friday (40 hours per week) at our Cape View office.
