As a Senior Data Analyst, you'll play a vital role in generating actionable insights and data-driven recommendations to support decision-making across the organisation. We're looking for someone with a natural curiosity for data and a passion for transforming complex information into compelling stories that drive business value. You will focus on understanding key business and customer problems, identifying gaps, and providing actionable recommendations through advanced analytics and business intelligence tools.At AKQA, you'll work in an innovative and inclusive culture surrounded by some of the brightest minds in their fields. Located in Auckland or Wellington we work in a hybrid WFH model, with Wednesday and Friday based in the studio each week.ROLE REQUIREMENTS:Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to uncover meaningful insightsCollaborate with senior stakeholders to define and execute data and analytics strategiesGenerate impactful insights from complex data sources, crafting compelling narrativesTransform insights into recommendations for strategy, experience design, and creative processesCreate and maintain advanced visualisations and dashboards using BI toolsProactively identify trends and patterns in data to drive business opportunitiesLead implementation of data tracking systems and quality assurance protocolsWork with data engineering teams to optimize data pipelinesGuide data governance and best practicesShare knowledge and mentor junior analysts in developing their analytical capabilitiesPresent analytics findings directly to clients with compelling storytellingChampion data-driven decision-making across the organisationDevelop innovative approaches to problem-solving using dataQUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS:Minimum 5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related fieldStrong analytical mindset with ability to see beyond the numbers to extract meaningful insightsNatural curiosity and drive to continuously explore and understand data patternsAdvanced proficiency in SQL and data manipulationExpert knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio)Strong experience with Google Analytics and Tag ManagerProficiency in statistical analysis and data modellingExperience with Python/R for data analysisKnowledge of A/B testing methodologies and toolsUnderstanding of data governance and privacy requirementsExcellent communication and presentation skills with ability to translate complex findings into actionable insightsStrong project management capabilitiesPassion for data education and improving organisational data literacyDemonstrated ability to think strategically and connect data insights to business outcomesRelevant certifications in Google Analytics, Power BI, or Tableau preferredAKQA is an Equal Opportunities Employer, we believe that diversity is vital to AKQA's ability to provide our clients with the best recommendations and are committed to fostering a varied and inclusive work environment.
