As part of a wider team of strategic communication leaders, this position partners with the business group responsible for delivering significant regional investments and a centre for commercial expertise for the wider public service.
This role heads a small team of communication professionals, from advisor through to principal level, and is critical in driving the strategic communications objectives of the RDCS Group, in line with the overarching, long-term goals of MBIE.Nga pukenga me nga wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience RequiredExperience leading strategic communications functionsExtensive experience working with minister's offices and providing strategic communications adviceIn-depth experience in issues and risk navigation, proactive engagement and communications planningComprehensive understanding of communications principles and frameworks, and working as part of a wider communications leadership team to deliver consistent, high-quality adviceAbility to see the potential in people, finding ways to grow and develop a team to ensure the best possible communications support for the businessA sound understanding of the media landscape and experience engaging with mediaExcellent interpersonal communications skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levelsProven success in building and leading a high-performing team in a changing environmentKnowledge of machinery of government, government processes, and experience working on cross-government initiativesHighly tuned influencing and negotiation skillsProven planning and organisational management skills to ensure the best use of team resources and expertiseAbility to quickly understand customer needs and use these insights to drive proactive engagementTertiary qualification, preferably in Communications and Marketing or related discipline.Must have the legal right to live and work in New ZealandEtahi korero mo MBIE - About MBIE:MBIE's goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.
