Au Mahi | What You Will Do
There is an exciting opportunity for a Kaiurungi to lead and support akonga Maori including delivery of successful pre-assessment and transition of akonga into first year tertiary study with a particular focus on year one undergraduate completion and retention. You will play an integral role in the delivery of UC's leading edge Maori student retention and achievement strategy by assisting in designing and delivering evidence-based Maori student development initiatives, services and advice that orient and transition students through their studies. You will also assist in developing and leading akonga engagement initiatives that enhance the akonga Maori experience to optimise their personal, social, and academic success.

To be successful in this role you will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to engage successfully with diverse akonga Maori, whanau, kura and other Maori community members including iwi, runanga and organisations. You will also have:
Experience delivering evidence-based recruitment, transition, and retention initiatives
Demonstrable understanding of the academic, social and cultural needs of akonga Maori
A commitment to enhancing bicultural competence and confidence
A recognition of Te Ao Ngai Tuahuriri - values, tikanga (processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions and valuing Te Reo Maori.
