The team of over 1400 passionate people are dedicated to championing preventative care, empowering Samoans to take charge of their health.
They deliver a wide spectrum of services, from ensuring clean water and sanitation to providing critical surgeries.
Their roots go back to 1959, and today, they're driven by the MOH Act 2006 to keep Samoans thriving.The AssignmentAs a VSA Volunteer, you'll immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Samoa, aiding MOH to build their capacity by training local staff through one-on-one and team sessions, or on-the-job training and mentoring.
You will be on-site at their Emergency Department to enable the training and support for existing personnel, increasing the capacity and confidence for the staff in their current skill sets, knowledge base, and subsequent management of patients.The VolunteerAre you someone who wants to make a difference, have a sense of adventure, and like the challenge of being outside your comfort zone?
VSA Volunteers are technical experts who impart their skills and knowledge to the local community.
You will need to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful, resilient with a passion for Aotearoa and the wider Pacific community.We're looking for a volunteer with the following:Proven experience in Emergency MedicineFellow of ACEM or other professional college or Master of Emergency MedicineFully registered medical practitioner with the Medical Council or equivalentDemonstrated ability to work flexibly in a constantly changing environmentProven cultural competency and ability to work in a resource-limited settingThe CountryHalfway between Hawaii and New Zealand, Samoa isn't just beautiful, it's steeped in tradition.
