About the role The Intake and Assessment Clinician's role helps support facilitating access to mental health services in partnership with the people we support within the community.
Key priorities of the role include: Triaging referrals from a variety of sources in the community.Undertaking face-to-face initial assessments.Recognising that culturally safe practices are paramount, and liaising with relevant services to ensure people receive safe, high quality, and equitable care.Assessing and escalating any crisis/urgent referrals to the appropriate crisis mental health and addiction services.Working collaboratively alongside the community mental health teams and local service providers to access the most appropriate service/support for the person based on their requirements.Liaising with referrers, including local GPs and community networks/NGO providers in the region to ensure people get appropriate, timely, and person-centred care and feeding back to them if there are any issues regarding the quality of referrals.About the Team/Service/Location We are an experienced mental health team situated in the Hutt Valley.
We consist of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, alcohol/drug clinicians, registered mental health nurses, clinical nurse specialists, and admin staff.
We have visiting NGOs, a lived experience lead, and other teams from Wellington.
We are a team that likes to provide expert care and treatment to our clients and have an excellent working relationship with the local NGOs and community services.
We have free parking and public transport close by.

About you We need:
An experienced registered mental health professional (allied health or nursing) with recent experience in mental health.An up-to-date annual practicing certificate.Experience in mental health triage and risk assessment.Fully COVID-19 vaccinated.A willingness to help you grow into this role.Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
