This role will be a direct report to the Managing Director and General Manager.Company OverviewHalcyon is a leading designer and importer of residential, commercial and industrial lighting in New Zealand. The company is proudly family owned and has operated for over 42 years, growing with a strong brand reputation of quality and innovation in the market.About the role:12-14 month Maternity cover, based in our new East Tamaki Head office, providing daily, weekly and month end processing of invoices (payable and receivables), Payroll for approx 30 staff (fortnightly), journals, reconciliations, Tax returns (PAYE and GST), cashflow forecasting, updating management on Trade finance and FX forward cover contracts and financial reporting. Support and guidance provided via external CFO and professional advisory team.Start Date:Flexible start date in February 2025Key Responsibilities:Daily, weekly, and month-end processing of invoices (payable and receivables)Payroll processing for approximately 30 staff (fortnightly)Preparation of journals and reconciliationsFiling of Tax returns (PAYE and GST)Cashflow forecastingUpdating management on Trade finance and FX forward cover contractsFinancial reportingQualifications and ExperienceAt least 2 years' experience in a similar role (3 years + preferable)Experience with Netsuite and Payhero will be beneficial but not essentialIntermediate Excel skills, with willingness and competency to reach advancedSolid understanding of accounting principlesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh attention to detail and a high level of accuracyDesired Skills:A positive "can do" attitude, with a willingness and resourcefulness to act on your own initiative as well as being an effective team memberLooks for improvements in day to day and asks the question 'how can we do this better'Exceptional organisational skillsExcellent time management, problem solving and communication skillsAbility to develop and maintain good professional working relationships with people at all levels across the companySelf-motivated and autonomous with excellent interpersonal skillsYour application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?How many years of payroll experience do you have?How many years' experience do you have as a Company Accountant?Do you have reconciliations experience?How many years of accounts payable experience do you have?How many years of accounts receivable experience do you have?Do you have previous invoicing experience?Have you worked in a role which requires experience with financial analysis and modelling?
