Details : PSSC is looking for a General Manager to lead our Family Works team.
Our organisation's focus is to ensure quality care for a wide range of people from the young through to the elderly.
The Family Works staff consist of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who together provide a range of support services and effective interventions to tamariki, rangatahi, and their whanau across the Mid & South Canterbury Community.
Your role would be to oversee and lead a team of social workers, counsellors, programme facilitators/co-ordinators, whanau workers and other staff.
You would also be overseeing the team who run the Refugee Settlement programme in South Canterbury.
The General Manager, Family Works is an integral part of the senior management team of Presbyterian Support South Canterbury.
Key responsibilities of the role:
•Responsible for the operational management of the Family Works and Refugee Settlement service
•Responsible for ensuring Family Works and Refugee Settlement Services are relevant, sustainable and financially viable.

•Oversight/Responsibility for employment of Family Works/Refugee Settlement staff
•Responsible for ensuring strong relationships with external stakeholders locally/regionally and nationally.
Key attributes required for success in the role:
•Sound management skills: Applicants are required understand and model effective leadership attributes.
HR experience is beneficial.

•Organizational and time management skills: applicants must be able to manage own work while managing multiple priorities/projects and overseeing other members of their team.

•Communication skills: applicants must be comfortable engaging with Board, Senior Management team members, staff members, external stake holders and the community in general.

•Collaborative skills: as part of being a member of the senior management team applicants must collaborate to ensure the goals of the overall organisation are met.

•Passion: applicants need a passion for providing and delivering services that provide the best outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau Necessary qualifications and experience:
•Education: a relevant degree/qualification in social/health services is preferred but not essential
•Experience – Minimum 4-5 years of relevant work experience in the social sector including some experience in a leadership role.

•Experience in financial management and business planning an advantage.

•Experience in working with Ministries and other Government agencies.

•Knowledge – a sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in the workplace.

•Knowledge: a sound understanding of the social sector and legislation.
Applicant for this position must have NZ residency.
