DescriptionThe role of Procurement Specialist involves taking charge of procurement and sourcing functions for our contracting business.
Reporting to the Assets and Supply Chain Manager, you'll be a key player in ensuring smooth project delivery and driving Northpower's success, based either at our Auckland or Hamilton Depot.The key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:Manage procurement policies, supplier agreements, and cost-effective sourcingNegotiate contracts, monitor vendor performance, and ensure complianceAnalyse expenditure trends and recommend cost-saving opportunitiesIdentify new products and market opportunities to reduce costsAssist in identifying continuous improvements, streamlining workflows, enhancing customer experiences, and improving social and environmental outcomesExperience in or understanding of risk management in a procurement and contract management context.What's in it for you?

We seek a dynamic professional with 5+ years of procurement experience with an operational background, sharp business acumen, and a proven track record in strategic procurement, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
Your ability to collaborate effectively, maintain professionalism, and deliver high customer satisfaction sets you apart.Here's what we're after:Preferably a qualification in procurement with experience in managing large tenders and contractsStrong relationship management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with a proven ability to engage internal and external stakeholdersExperience leading collaborative procurement projects in complex and multi-stakeholder environmentsHigh commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive outcomes while balancing prioritiesProficiency in MS Excel, Word, Project, JDE, and a willingness to travel to depots, work sites, and engage with suppliersHighly motivated, innovative, curious, and open to new ways of doing things, so you'll need to think outside the box.About us: Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers.
