At the heart is our purpose which pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.Our Opportunity:The purpose of the Site Electrical Engineer role is to provide Electrical engineering support to site maintenance and operational teams for the safe and efficient running of the Kawerau Power Station.
In addition, this role will lead and manage plant improvements and modification of processes and equipment on site.As part of a small and motivated team on site you will enjoy working autonomously yet have access to specialist support from Mercury's Central Engineering resources when required.
This role will suit those who thrive when they have responsibility for the assets under their control, and who like being a technical leader that can provide mentoring and support to others.Our station is based between Whakatane and Rotorua.Key Accountabilities:Provide Electrical engineering support for Kawerau's Geothermal power station, ensuring its operability, efficiency, integrity and compliance with applicable regulations and standards.Deliver engineering projects to agreed scope and standard, while working within established budget and deadlines.Monitor and analyse the performance and integrity of the company's assets using modern troubleshooting and analytical techniques.Evaluate the engineering feasibility and economic benefits of enhancement opportunities to existing assets, processes and new developments.We are looking for:Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent tertiary degree.Minimum of five (5) years of relevant engineering experience.A technical understanding of control systems and plant control networks, instrumentation and field devices, and process control applications will be considered an advantage.A full, clean New Zealand driver's license, or equivalent.Power Generation experience would be beneficial.Mercury offers (full benefits are listed on our Career Page):Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays).$400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office.A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged.Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave.The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers.Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world.Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance.Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme.Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet.Mercury is a learning organisation that is committed to providing you with opportunities to grow and develop that will benefit you now and in the future.
