An exciting opportunity is now available to join Te Kaunihera o Tamaki Makaurau Design Ope's (Urban Design Unit) to help shape a city that reflects te ao Maori.
As Matanga Huanga a Maori Urban Designer, you will support the Maori Design Kaupapa Programme, providing specialist advice on Maori urban design principles.
Your work will integrate Maori values into key plans, policies, and projects, ensuring culturally rich and meaningful urban outcomes across Tamaki Makaurau.
Key responsibilities Support the development and implementation of the Maori Design Kaupapa Programme.Provide Maori urban design input into strategies, policies, and projects, including the Auckland Plan 2050 and Auckland Unitary Plan.Contribute to the development of best-practice guidance for the Maori Design Hub within the Auckland Design Manual.Assist in mentoring and supporting kaimahi within the Tamaki Makaurau Design Ope.Build and maintain relationships with Mana Whenua, Mataawaka, and other key stakeholders.He korero mou: About you
You have a strong understanding of te ao Maori and a passion for creating meaningful urban spaces that reflect Maori values.
With experience in urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field, you are confident in providing design advice and working collaboratively within a team.
Your ability to engage with Mana Whenua and key stakeholders will be essential in this role.
