Youth Support WorkerHamiltonYour role will vary from programme to programme but your role will be to support young people with intellectual disabilities to participate in outdoor or indoor adventure and social programmes. These programmes offer a range of activities e.g. Luge riding, bowling, rock climbing, movies, watching local sports games and tourist attractions such as Hobbiton, 3D trick art gallery, and boat cruises for our young people. They would not be able to attend these without generous volunteers like you You would be an extra set of eyes and hands, and most importantly, a role model to our youth. You get to fully participate in all activities with our young people whilst at the same time gaining invaluable learning experiences on ways to engage with a diverse group of people. As a volunteer, Recreate NZ pays for all the activities, food, and accommodation (if needed) that the group does together on Programme.Requirements:A positive, outgoing attitude is a necessity when on programme with our young people. We will be adventuring around the country and encouraging our participants to push themselves socially and physically, so you will have to be comfortable supporting people in a range of environments.A Police background check is required for this role.Time commitment:We have a range of 4-hour programmes to 8-hour programmes and also overnight programmes to choose between. You can choose the programmes that suit you and your schedule.
