Company Description Nau mai haere mai ki te whanau o Hato Hone St John. He wahi kia pai ake matou i te hauora o nga tangata katoa I Aotearoa, me te mau tonu i Te Titiri o Waitangi
Ko wai m atou - About us:
Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders and working to save lives since 1885. As well as providing Ambulance Services, our programmes and team of over 11,000 staff and volunteers are helping to build strong, resilient communities across the motu; supporting everyone in Aotearoa to live healthier, happier and longer lives.
Job Description
He aha te turanga - About the role:
Priory Chapter (Chapter) is the presiding governing body for the Order of St John in New Zealand and is responsible for setting the strategic direction and values of the organisation. Chapter Members are appointed to ensure and uphold the objectives and principles of the Priory and provide oversight, guidance, and support to the Priory Board (PB) in discharging their delegated governance authority. Collectively, the Priory Chapter ensures alignment of Hato Hone St John's strategic direction and approach while engaging widely in our communities to
• ensure their needs are listened to and represented
• advocate for and promote the work of St John
• ensure that service deprivation and inequities are addressed
• advocate and champion the understanding and recognition of Tikanga Maori and the Hato Hone St John Tiriti alignment strategy.
To support our Manaaki Ora strategy we are now seeking to appoint two additional Chapter Members of Maori descent to enhance and enable Chapter's collective capability at a senior governance level. Specifically, ensuring that Tikanga Maori principles are applied to strategic thinking and delivery to support a demonstrable focus on health equity and quality improvement for Hauora Maori, and actively seek opportunities to develop an effective Tiriti/Treaty-based based lens to service delivery and inclusion.
The first appointment will have an external lens - ensuring that key external stakeholders and communities are heard and represented in providing strategic leadership and stewardship to the Priory.
The second appointment will bring an inward-facing view within and across Hato Hone St John to strengthen 'in house' relationships, enhance the interests of members, managers and work collaboratively to bring about systemic transformation within Hato Hone St John.
The Chapter Member is a voluntary position and members are required to attend 4 Chapter Meetings per annum as well as participate in working groups, committee meetings, ceremonies or other forums from time to time. Additionally, Chapter Members must commit time to engaging in their communities and with key stakeholder groups internally and externally. Meeting attendance can be a combination of Teams or in-person. Chapter appointments are for three years.
We are open to location and Hato Hone St John will reimburse any necessary expenses.
