Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries is on the lookout for a talented Marine Welder/Fitter to join our workshop team.
This role is crucial in maintaining the structural integrity, mechanical systems, and operational efficiency of our ferry fleet.
If you have at least five years of shipyard experience, hold mandatory marine welding certifications, and have expertise in mechanical fitting, we want to hear from you

Note: Applicants for this position will also be required to provide valid references and pass a MOJ criminal check and drug test.About the Role

Perform welding and fitting work on vessel structures, piping, and mechanical components, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards.

Fabricate, modify, and repair ship components using marine-grade steel, aluminium, and stainless steel.Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, and associated components.Interpret technical drawings, ship blueprints, and welding symbols to execute precise and high-quality work.Support routine and urgent maintenance to minimize vessel downtime.Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and maintenance teams to uphold Bluebridge's commitment to operational excellence.Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols in all work carried out. What We're Looking ForMinimum of 5 years of experience as a Marine Welder/Fitter in a shipyard or maritime setting.Mandatory welding certifications (AS/NZS 1554, ABS, Lloyd's, or equivalent).Strong experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.Proven skills in mechanical fitting, including working with pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, and marine components.Ability to work with ship hulls, bulkheads, pipework, and other marine structures.Knowledge of maritime safety standards and classification society requirements.Ability to work in a shore-based role, supporting both planned and emergency maintenance.
