This role sits in the Operational Projects Team based in the Parks Newtown Depot.
The team provides a critical customer-facing support service, ensuring the city's residents and visitors enjoy a well-managed and maintained environment.
It is responsible for a variety of operational maintenance programmes across a wide range of council reserves, parks and play spaces.This role will be involved in the day-to-day operations of weed control but must be flexible to work across all associated programmes and contracts related to the Operational Projects Team.
This may include, but is not limited to, vegetation maintenance, weed/pest plant control, asset repairs, litter control, restoration planting and maintenance, coastal grooming, and auditing work associated with these contracts/programmes.Nga tohu me nga wheako | Qualifications and experienceWe are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and someone who is prepared to work as part of a team.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has a horticultural qualification or relevant experience, but this isn't a must.
A full, clean class 1 driver licence is required, and a Growsafe certificate would be desirable, although it is not necessary as on-the-job training will be provided.You will:Be self-motivated and physically fitHave demonstrated experience using small machineryHave the ability to work to programmed maintenance schedulesDemonstrate health & safety awarenessBe able to work in a team environment and/or unsupervisedHave experience dealing with customersIn return, you'll work for an organisation that really values its people.

This position is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with overtime as required.
