While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for our akonga in our education system.About this role | Mo tenei turangaAre you a current AODC, a Resource Teacher of the Deaf or an SLT looking for a lifestyle change?We are looking for an Advisor on Deaf Children to be part of a close-knit, whanau-based and community-focused team.Permanent, full-timeRotorua/Taupo, Bay of PlentyWhanau-focused teamOpportunity for further studyOpportunity to live in one of NZ's most beautiful and diverse communities.If this is sounding interesting - keep readingAs an Advisor on Deaf Children, you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by:Providing specialist support to babies and children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and their whanau.Providing professional support and guidance to early learning services, schools, teachers and whanau and building their capacity to support the learning of these babies and children.Providing appropriate specialist intervention plans.Working as part of a collaborative team where a child's needs are complex.Liaising and working collaboratively with other services in the community such as Ko Taku Reo, audiology, and the Cochlear Implant Team.Salary range: $69,666 - $118,450 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.
The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.This role is based at our Rotorua Office, however, we could also consider the role being based in our Taupo Office as it covers Rotorua, Murupara, Reporoa, Broadlands, Taupo and Turangi.
Travel will be required.We also offer:Flexible working arrangements where everyone feels valued & supported.The ability to purchase extra days leave.A range of employee network groups.An inclusive environment that encourages your personal cultural competency journey.Development and learning, including mentorship programmes and internal secondments.Wellness initiatives to support your overall health and wellbeing.About you | Mohou akeThe ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga, including promoting tikanga and te reo Maori is essential.We will ONLY consider applicants for this position who meet the following qualification criteria:a Master of Specialist Teaching (Adviser on Deaf Children, or Deaf and Hard of Hearing) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Deaf and Hard of Hearing), or equivalentOR: Teacher of the deaf qualifications (postgraduate diploma or equivalent)OR: Speech language therapy qualifications (master's or bachelor's degree in Speech Language Therapy, or equivalent)AND: be willing to undertake the master's programme of study for Adviser on Deaf Children/Deaf and Hard of Hearing.We may also consider applications from Registered Teachers with an extensive background and experience in/of Deaf Education and the Deaf community.A full current driver licence is essential as travel across the region is a requirement of this role.Are you ready to make a difference?
