Our space systems business includes our extensive line of satellites and components that have enabled more than 1,700 missions including the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA Psyche Mission, Artemis I, Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and more.Join our pioneering team and launch your career to new heightsRocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more.Senior Spacecraft Software EngineerWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to support the development of Photon, with an emphasis on operations software.
In this role, you will be working to develop our Space Operations Software that is responsible for commanding and data handling for all of Photon's operations in space.
This role will involve developing software to work with cloud technologies, mission & ground software, customer APIs, and large databases.WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DODevelop software for the operation of space systems and associated ground infrastructure (such as ground stations, mission control, etc)Develop and evolve ground-based software architecture for spacecraft operationsWork closely with flight software developers, operations personnel, and systems engineers to understand requirements and functional needsDevelop software and unit tests according to bug-fix and feature requestsDevelop documentation for operation of software productsParticipate in review of source code merge requestsFacilitate software architecture meetingsFacilitate scrum activities (e.g.
stand-up, retrospectives, sprint planning)Assist in prioritization of product backlog itemsManage scrum activity information (e.g.
