KiwiRail is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Traction Supervisor to lead and inspire our Traction team in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our Overhead Traction systems. This day-shift role is crucial to maintaining our network operations and requires an EWRB practicing licence.
About the Role As the Traction Supervisor, you will oversee a team of Traction Line Mechanics, implementing a comprehensive maintenance program and ensuring the seamless operation of all Overhead Traction systems. You'll play a hands-on role in providing technical guidance, troubleshooting, and responding to emergencies. Your leadership will foster a culture of safety, productivity, and excellence, aligning with KiwiRail's commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the Traction team in performing maintenance, repairs, and installations.
Establish and implement a reliable Traction maintenance program.
Ensure all team members are fully trained and competent in maintaining the Traction Asset.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff.
Investigate system failures and take immediate corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records and reports.
Promote a strong health and safety culture within the team.
What You'll Bring Minimum 7 years of experience working in Traction systems.
Proven experience leading and supervising teams.
Registered Traction Line Mechanic (Limitation 3) with a current EWRB practicing licence.
Strong knowledge of Overhead Traction equipment and rail infrastructure standards.
Competence in working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Excellent problem-solving, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
