Assistant Cheesemaker

This is a great opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Cheesemaker. You will be working closely with a team of 20, made up of Assistant Cheesemakers and Cheesemakers to transform raw ingredients into a variety of our world-class cheese.We are looking to get a few more hands on deck. The days and hours of work are Mon - Fri, 5am - 1.30pm, and a half day every third Saturday.The Assistant Cheesemaker is a fast-paced, physical, factory-based role. In this position, you will be following steps of the cheesemaking process and some of the main tasks include:Setting up cheese making equipmentFilling of cheese hoopsCheese salting and cuttingRepetitively lifting up to 10-20KG throughout the dayMaintaining a clean environment to a high standardCompleting required documentationOur ideal candidate will have:Physical fitness due to the heavy lifting involvedAbility to follow instructions and learn quicklyReliabilityAbility to work within a teamPassion for the productFood experience will be beneficial but not compulsoryNZ residency or a valid NZ working visaAbout Whitestone CheeseWhitestone Cheese Co is a producer of award-winning, artisan craft cheeses that get distributed throughout New Zealand.
